it's coming to an end and I see the light shining through

New Year's Eve-eve with my best friend in San Francisco. Looking back, this past year has been such a whirlwind of events. Meeting amazing new people and making memories that will last a lifetime. It was a year of many firsts for me too. I turned 18, graduated high school and moved down to Los Angeles to pursue my dreams. I also learned a lot about myself as an individual through 2012's experiences. One thing that I sometimes need to constantly remind myself is that I'm still young and will make mistakes. I still have a lot to learn. I became independent at a really young age and that has shaped a lot of the values that I believe in and what makes who I am today. Resolutions are something that I feel that shouldn't have to be made only at the start of a new year but rather each time you come to realize what you could do to be better. But it's nice to have a fresh new mark to start over and this is what I have:

My 2013 resolutions:
1. Work smart, play hard.
2. Travel more at whatever cost.
3. Talk to strangers.
4. Quality over quantity.
5. Don't hesitate to take risks!

One thing is for sure, I won't stop blogging anytime soon. It's been such a great experience for me both emotionally and physically. Most importantly, it's so much fun for me. It makes me so happy to be able to have an outlet to share a part of myself and to know that I have readers who are enjoying it. Here's to 2013 and Happy New Year! Outfit inspired by Edie Sedgwick as foreshadowed in this post.

don't just stop there darling

Forever a leopard print girl. And I can never have enough little white lacey dresses. Spent the day thrift store hopping with my friend and shot these when a generous slice of sunlight shone through the clouds. Note to self: we're only a weekend away from a new year which means I need to purchase new hair ties because the one you see on my wrist is literally the only one I have left. I honestly can never wrap my mind around where the rest of them end up.

a cup of coffee for two

One of my favorite parts of San Francisco is the chance of stumbling across a cute cafe is greater than getting a parking ticket for not paying the meter. And a cup of hot coffee on a chilly winter day is a glorious luxury.

polyvore monday: comfy chic

Comfy Chic

This is my ideal outfit formula for foraying the crazy post-Christmas sales. Being comfortable while shopping is my number one priority and nothing beats a crop top paired with shorts thrown over stockings and a comfy cardigan over it all. Très Bien!

icy denim hues

Kind of obsessed with these houndstooth skinny jeans. Or just houndstooth print in general. Also, I'm a little bit in love with my new wallet that I purchased from good ol' Target last weekend. Its glimmering silver metallic leather cover caught the corner of my eye and the fact that I'm currently going through a silver hue phase, I had to take it home. Bonus for its cheap price too. In other news, I also dyed my hair! In person it looks like a reverse ombré of golden brown. This is actually not the shade I'm trying to get; it just turned out like this because I refused to use bleach on my dark hair. It sort of grew on me so I decided to keep it this way until I'm ready to go lighter. Hope everyone is enjoying the holiday season! Merry Christmas Eve & Happy Holidays! Thanks for reading x

new year's eve dress code: factory girl

Factory Girl: Edie Sedgwick

By Marlene Birger Leopard Coat
Bobbi Brown Kohl Cake Eyeliner
Benefit Cosmetics Eyelashes
Nicole Miller Fishnet Tights
Prabal Gurung Embellished Top

I'm always endlessly fascinated by films that tell the tales of the seemingly glamourous lives of suffering iconic fictitious or (in this case) non-fictitious women. Always and forever fascinated by 60s icon Edie Sedgwick, she was a fragile and charming woman whose life ended too soon for her own good. I've watched "Factory Girl" countless times and am always incredibly inspired after by Edie's simple yet iconic look. She had the je ne sais quoi attitude and it's hard not to fall in love with her. With New Year's Eve approaching, it only makes sense that I ring in 2013 by channeling Edie.

vintage shopping on haight

Nasty Gal Madrid Wool Hat | H&M Cable Knit Sweater | Wildfox Couture Denim Skirt via Crossroads Trading | Zara Bag | Jeffrey Campbell Drexel Buckle Booties

Of course the first thing I do after my road trip from Los Angeles back up Norcal for the holidays is to go visit my favorite vintage shops. Maybe I could've passed with wearing a denim miniskirt if I was still down south, but I have to admit I was pretty cold. San Francisco's slappin winds did not do my frozen legs justice. I documented the day with my go-to 35mm film, so more from that later.

polyvore monday: cool grunge

Cool Grunge

Bucket Bag | Original out of stock
A laid-back tough girl look for the holidays in the city. This is one of my absolute favorite looks that fall into my category of edgy grunge ensembles. Consisting of the tartan print, soft greys, leather look pieces, gun metal jewelry, black lacquered nails, the perfect cut-out booties and a beanie to keep warm in the winter season. Imagine wearing this sauntering down the street with the wind slapping your face and a coffee in hand.

venice beach

Photos by Sarah

I spent last Friday hanging out with Crossroads Trading Social Media Coordinator Sarah and Madeline as part of Crossroads Trading Style Council. We had brunch at the Larchmont Bungalow on Larchmont and I had the most amazing eggs benedict dish ever. For those curious, I ordered the Mole Benedict. Later Sarah and I headed out to Venice Beach and spent the afternoon walking along the beach and eating burgers at this cool joint called Cairo Cowboy. Currently I'm back in San Francisco for the holidays and looking at these photos makes me miss Southern California immensely. The Bay Area is expecting rain for the majority of the two weeks that I am here so I probably won't be able to update this space as regularly, but stay tuned!
