hi, los angeles

I've realized that I haven't exactly dished my thoughts on Los Angeles since moving to this smog filled city. Putting aside the fact that the city itself is so spread out which has caused the necessity of going out of my way to get to my destinations; I love how there are, for the lack of better word, niches, here in old Los Angeles. Though I have yet to explore every nook and cranny, I'm always excited to see what's around the corner. In some cases, not so much when you run into sketchy/creepy homeless men who have nothing better to do than be... sketchy and creepy. I moved out here to immerse myself into a different environment and lifestyle. Being 18 years old with dreams is empowering and if it means taking risks, then so be it. What is life without a little fun and kicks along the way anyway.

Today I attended the Bren x Bangstyle preview hosted by Bollare at their Los Angeles showroom after my first class. Being unable to drive in Los Angeles during my first year of college is the biggest inconvenience there is. With the city being so spread out, practically everything is half an hour to an hour bus ride away. I've still yet to master the public transportation here, but I'm getting the hang of it! (I miss San Francisco's Muni system.) On another fun note, take advantage of Chictopia's 20% off on select back to school pieces in their shop, while supplies last!

kahlo: a crowded house

Last night I attended Australian brand Kahlo's preview of their Spring/Summer 2013 collection hosted at Satine Boutique in West Hollywood by Dietch PR. The designers behind the label, Rachelle and Fay, are such a sweet pair of ladies. Their new collection is pretty much composed of three fourths of leather pieces, with a few perforated leather scattered about. I'm a leather type of girl, so this was definitely on my side of the style spectrum. Kahlo leans more toward streamlined silhouettes and sophisticated cuts. As you can see in my previous posts when I had a personal style shoot at Dietch PR, I had the privilege to wear a few of Kahlo's pieces from their Fall 2012 collection and I instantly fell in love. You can check out their website here!

wine lips, wine pants

Kahlo Leather Tank | In My Air Silk Crepe De Chine Pants | AK Vintage Body Chain | Textured Clutch c/o Brahmin | Dany Platforms

This may possibly just yet be one of my favorite outfits I've worn. Leather and silk crepe combination? How many more times do I need to reiterate my love for mixing textures? I'd like to think that this outfit basically sums up as a prelude to what I will be wearing this fall. Lots of leather, both in tan and black, and pops of oxblood everywhere. On a side note, you may have noticed that I removed the Google Friend Connect following option on my sidebar. I decided that I would like to stick to Bloglovin' so feel free to update your list and follow me on here! Bisous!

all you need is a glossy vogue

This was the first look I styled while playing polyvore at Dietch PR. If you know me, I love anything leather. So when I first laid my eyes on this leather bralette by Los Angeles based brand, In My Air, I gleefully took it down from the rack knowing I'd have so much with it. I pulled it together with an asymmetrical leather skirt and blazer by Australian brand, Kahlo. While flipping through my outfits, I realized that this one totally reminisced of Christian Dior's Fall 2010 collection in terms of color palette. This would be my way of stepping into Fall in style! I am totally head over heels for anything wine colored.

c'est une femme

We all know that French is the language of love. As the most coveted language to be learned by a general consensus (I'm sure you wish you spoke French too if you aren't already fluent), I'm happily taking French at college and wishing that I could transport myself to the other side of the world. One of my biggest dreams is to live in France for a period of my life. Maybe it's the generalized romantic view of the beautiful Paris or the quaint but delicious desserts they seem to be constantly eating. All I know is that I want to join the hommes and femmes on the other side. As a self-proclaimed francophile, I'm doing my homework and brushing up on my French 'tude. All that's left to get is a beret, some foie gras and a glass of wine. Who's with me?

dietch pr showroom

Last week I had the pleasure of stopping by Dietch PR for a little dress up session. Like many bloggers who have stated before me, it was as if I had walked into a real life Polyvore edition of creating outfit sets. There were rack and racks filled with amazing pieces from the likes of Kahlo, In My Air and Generation Love and body chains and trinkets by AK Vintage. Above is a preview of the looks I pulled and styled together. We shot these photos around Downtown Los Angeles and I'm really happy with how they turned out. A huge hug and thanks to Megan for making my experience such a wonderful one!

sass & bide spring 2013

Photos via Style.com

I am completely and utterly obsessed with Sass & Bide's Spring 2013 Ready-To-Wear Collection. With the foundation of my style solely being based on mixing feminine and edgy, it's as if designers Sarah-Jane and Heidi knew just exactly what pleases my style tastebuds. I don't normally go out of my way to write a review on a collection, let alone a collection that I witnessed secondhand via Style.com, but with my mind going on overdrive just looking at this collection, I want to share the utter brilliance that this Australian line embodies. From the mix of knit and feather to the structured silhouettes and cutouts, it is indeed one of Sass & Bide's best offerings for the season.

gucci fall 2012 beauty

Photos via Style.com

Lipstick will always be the one beauty product that I can't live without. It's ability to create the perfect pout and elevating one's lip appeal, if that exists, is consistent throughout my looks. As much as I adore a bright red lip, I'm looking forward to experimenting with deep maroons and burgundy this fall. As for this, I will be taking inspiration from Gucci's Fall 2012 beauty looks. Bisous!

golden hour

Lace Bralette | American Apparel Pleated Maxi | Asos Envelope Clutch | Dany Platforms | Silver Lacquer

These photos were taken prior to Labor Day, the unofficial mark of the end of summer. Accompanied with a beautiful view of looking over Downtown Los Angeles during sunset, I realized how much I'm feeling more at home here in LA. On another note, if you guys have been following me on twitter, you may have noticed that my flights to New York City were cancelled, resulting in me missing out on New York Fashion Week. Long story short, a series of unfortunate events happened, but as they say, keep calm and carry on. There's always next season. In the meantime, I hope everyone that is in New York right now is enjoying the events leading up to FNO! Until next time.

cream florals

Floral print jeans have been consistent throughout the past two seasons, but I only recently gave into this trend, seeing that I am quite picky when it comes to my prints. Big thanks to Kristen at Bollare for sending me off with these from my New York trip earlier this month.

black & gold

A consistent aspect in my sartorial and decor needs is my desire for tried and true gold and black pieces. I love a good gold sequin skirt or a black leather jacket. These two color hues embody my style perfectly: edgy feminine. Or in other words, parisian grunge chic. And as always, black and gold will always be timeless and classy, as any woman should be.
