real update

Hi Guys! While it totally feels as if I've been M.I.A. from blogging, you can be rest assured that I have plenty to share in my next few posts. For those who have asked, I've been busy preparing for exciting new events to come in the next month. One of which will be my trip to New York City in T minus twelve days. If you're in the area, I'd love any recommendations on places I should see or foods I should eat, so feel free to shoot me an e-mail! Also, you can follow me on Twitter and Instagram for real time updates. Bisous!

miu miu sunglasses

I've had this image pinned to the corkboard above my desk for the longest time now. Ripped out from the April 2012 issue of Vogue, I knew immediately I had found gold in the form of inspiration. Besides being slightly obsessed with the cobalt-tinted cat eye sunglasses by Miu Miu that is worn in the photo, the entire vintage nostalgia effect is what I'm swooning over the most. I'm unsure why exactly I didn't share these thoughts three months ago, but while playing with the thoughts of purchasing my first pair of designer sunglasses, I immediately looked up at this photo and I knew I needed these beautiful sunglasses. The cat eye, the yellow Havana print (that always reminds me of leopard), the blue tint and frame style completely speaks to me like no other. It was love at first sight.

instagram pt. deux

1. With Blake from Misère De La Mode.

2. French Toast at Brenda's French Soul Food in San Francisco.

3. Nasty Gal Neon Circle Shades, American Apparel lacquer and Vogue Covers book.

4. Vintage sourcing is always a workout.

5. Overlooking the city on a friend's balcony.

6. Japanese birthday dinner for my best friend.

It's been awhile since I last shared an instagram post. I mean besides being another outlet for shameless self-promotion and faux-film effects, it's rather fun to see the 'behind-the-scenes' photos in real time from favorite bloggers and people. Not that this hasn't been repeated a thousand other times. Follow me @lavagabonddame for more!

leisure wear

Vienna Blouse via Nasty Gal | Vintage Levi's Cutoffs | Asos Leopard T-Bar Heels

Hi guys, Happy Monday! I wore this last week when I was meeting up with a friend in downtown. This loose chiffon blouse has been serving me well on these warm windy days here in San Francisco. When you're walking quite a bit with the wind slapping your face and the sun shining on your back, comfort wise, this would be my ideal outfit. Simple but still keeping an element of surprise with my modest heels a.k.a. my leopard T-bars.

seventies style: a breakdown of the bohemian era

I'm dedicating today's segment to one of my favorite eras in fashion history. From the staple silhouettes to jewel-tone colors, this is my take on what a seventies siren must have.
1. Wedge shoes should be a staple of every girl’s shoe collection today. From stacked wood to espadrilles, they are a blessing for those vertically challenged, like me. As they say, the higher the heel, the closer to God.

2. Chunky art deco style jewelry is very seventies. Go for big, bold pieces that can be used to jazz up an ensemble, such as an ornate cuff in gold and black.

3. The jumpsuit, a seventies staple, looks best with a plunging neckline and halterneck, breaking up the all-in-one style. It's sleek, sexy and perfect on a breezy summer day.

4. In a floor-sweeping maxi style, the one-shouldered dressis seventies fashion down to a tee. On a night out, opt for jewel-toned evening wear.

5. A nod to Farrah Fawcett in flares, team a pair of flared blue jeans with sky-high heels. And as Lana del Rey croons, blue jeans, white shirt.

6. Floral prints are big this season, and the seventies was an era of paisley prints on floaty tops and dresses. Update a paisley print top with biker boots or a leather jacket, to toughen up the look and make it more modern.

7. Tassels were the trimming of choice during this boho era. Best when kept minimal, they add a touch of retro to bags of all shapes and sizes. Like this beautiful Chloé.

8. And the final beauty touch, clear gloss lips and false eyelashes. This will guarantee you the look of a seventies siren.

moschino resort 2013

MOSCHINO RESORT 2013. Right away these looks caught my eye out of the entire collection. The collection consists of several characteristics in the likes of eccentric florals, fluorescent shades and monochromatic palettes. I love these lashings of ladylike charm translated to peach and mint tones complete with shimmering sequined chiffon that give off the perfect "Gatsby-style" vibes. Already I can picture what I'd wear to the premiere of the film remake when it hits theaters this Christmas.

candy colors & cutouts

Cutout Blouse c/o Dahlia | Nasty Gal Lace Suspender Skirt and Chloe Satchel and Neon Shades | Kitten Pumps

First thoughts: emanating vibes of the love child of Alice in Wonderland and Louis Vuitton Spring 2012. Unintentionally, I went for a blue shirt white skirt combination with only the matter of how much I loved the chiffon and lace texture pairing in mind. And as if I couldn't reiterate enough, please help me clean out my closet by shopping my threads here! I would also be more than happy to take requests, so please feel free to shoot me an e-mail!

urban chic mobility

À la Jane Fonda in the 1970s film Klute, Freja looks so seventies stunning. An early little inspiration for this coming fall. Freja Beha Erichsen for Vogue Nippon shot by Terry Richardson.

monday strollin'

Nasty Gal Vienna Blouse | Shorts c/o Romwe | Calvin Klein Stockings | Vintage Belt | Forever 21 Clutch

Started off the week with a stroll through San Francisco after work. There's something so enticing about being able to leisurely stroll amongst the hustle and bustle in the city. We found this cute little alleyway which provided the perfect contrast background against my neutral outfit. On another note, I can hardly believe it's the second week of July already, time honestly flies by when you're having fun. Hope everyone is enjoying their summer vacations!

youth knows no pain

Frazelle Black Denim Vest c/o Tusc Boutique | Bodysuit c/o Motel | Nasty Gal Hot Pants | Sam Edelman Lace-Ups | Chanel Red Lip

The post title coined from one of my favorite songs by my favorite artist, Lykke Li. These summer days are going along just fine and I can't emphasize how lovely it feels to be able to set my own schedule accordingly.  On a side note, you can clearly see in the second photo that part of my hair is reddish-brown and let me assure that I did not use any dye or whatsoever. Though I like my hair jet black, it's an interesting change to see summer take its toll. However, unlike the generations before me, I will never go down the path of an Asian redhead.

american girl

Happy 4th of July! To my American readers, have a fun-filled, safe holiday! I will be tuning in to Lana del Rey's "National Anthem" while kicking back in my backyard for an old-school style family barbeque. With the expansion of my extended family (note: the number of my relatives puts the word extended to shame), it never gets old. xoxo

san francisco streetstyle

Style Sofia Accordion Top | American Apparel Disco Pants and Mint Nails | Forever 21 Platform Wedges | H&M Bag

Happy Monday guys! These photos were taken in Union Square when I visited the city on Saturday. There's always a new experience each time I go back and it's comforting to know that I won't ever get tired of this amazing city's atmosphere. Along with pulling off disco pants as everyday wear, I wouldn't feel more at home.
